About Us

As we add more people to our planet and create more goods, we’re driving a seemingly never-ending stream of waste. Solid wastes from industrial processes turn into toxic mountains on the horizon. The materials we rely on to build our critical infrastructure are carbon intensive, meaning the more we build, the more carbon dioxide goes into the atmosphere. How can we reduce this polluting waste? How can we reduce all this waste?

What if instead of being the problem, waste was the solution? What if we transformed waste into feedstocks, circulating these materials into stronger, cleaner and more sustainable products? At Carbon Upcycling we believe the materials we consider waste today are sustainable feedstocks for tomorrow. And we’re making it happen by utilizing CO2. Our novel technology platform uses carbon dioxide emissions from any industry, combined with natural materials or industrial wastes—from coal plants, steel plants, glass manufacturing and more—to unlock new materials with improved performance and lower emissions.

At Carbon Upcycling, we’re harnessing the power of carbon—as carbon dioxide—to make the materials around us more sustainable. Our technology enables local, abundant and low emissions production of some of the most common materials on the planet, like cement, plastics, consumer products, fertilizers, and even pharmaceuticals.

At Carbon Upcycling, we’re creating the technology to reuse everything. Join us.

Today we’re on a mission to reduce the carbon intensity of cement and concrete while maintaining strength, durability and cost. Tomorrow we’re creating a world where carbon is a sustainable resource to shape the future of humanity.

Every day we’re proud to call Calgary our home and headquarters. The heart of energy innovation in Canada, we’re surrounded by industrial titans looking to conquer the world and upset the status quo. Our team hails from leading universities in Canada and beyond, and we’ve been lucky to earn the support of many Canadian organizations and the Canadian government. But, our reach extends far beyond any borders as we seek to transform the most common materials on the planet into tools for massive carbon-sequestration and economic growth.

We are a team of energetic doers focused on changing the world through circularity and carbon. We’ve taken our technology from a table top reactor to a TWENTY TONNE reactor in just a few years. We believe in openness, inclusion, hard work and our ability to help save the planet from climate change. Check out our careers page for opportunities to join our team and start making a difference at an industrial scale.
