Ian Riley

After graduating from Cambridge University in 1979, Mr. Riley worked in a number of management roles in the UK, the USA, Australia and Japan before moving to China in 1998. He was General Manager of a British project management and consulting firm, based in Shanghai and also Chairman of the British Chamber of Commerce in Shanghai before joining Holcim/Huaxin in 2006.

As Huaxin VP responsible for international business, strategy and sustainability, he oversaw Huaxin’s first overseas venture in Tajikistan. Mr. Riley was Greater China Country Head for LafargeHolcim from 2014 to 2019. He has been CEO of WCA since September 1, 2019.

Mark Hornett

Member of the Kimmeridge Energy Advisory Board. Kimmeridge is a Private Equity group based in New York.

Prior to 2021 Mark worked for Kimmeridge in the positions of Chief Operating Officer of Kimmeridge Energy’s Operations Group and Managing Director of International assets.

Before Kimmeridge, he was President of a publicly traded German energy company. Mark’s career has been primarily in the energy sector and has worked both domestically and internationally he has held a variety of senior management roles. He has worked with teams that have built start up companies through to successful exit.

CEO at Carbonomics, LLC

Seth Baruch

Seth specializes in the development of carbon offset methodologies. Seth also guides companies through the entire process of generating a carbon credit — from project inception to verification and issuance. The offset methodologies developed by Seth are reducing tens of millions of tons of GHG emissions per year.

Seth also developed the first two carbon offset protocols related to carbon capture and utilization, including CO2 injection in concrete.

Prior to Carbonomics, Seth founded a carbon advisory consulting company, which was sold to Climate Change Capital in 2007.

Former President and Country Chair for Shell Canada

Michael Crothers

Michael Crothers has 37 years of operations, commercial and leadership experience in the upstream, downstream, and integrated gas businesses, of which over 33 years were with Royal Dutch Shell. Mr. Crothers served as President and Country Chair for Shell Canada for over 5 years, retiring in May of 2021. He played a pivotal leadership role in the business development and mega-project start-ups of the Scotford Upgraders and Albian Jackpine Mine, and in the 2018 achievement of the final investment decision for the LNG Canada project. Mr. Crothers’ extensive global experience includes assignments spanning five continents and several large scale joint ventures. His broad industry expertise includes refining, chemicals, oil sands, health, safety & environment and renewables.

Mr. Crothers is a champion of the environment, diversity and inclusion and is committed to reconciliation and partnership with Indigenous peoples. He currently serves as a Director of Keyera Corporation, is the Chair of the Board of Directors of Northern RNA, a Calgary based life sciences company, and is co-Chair of the United Way Calgary 2021 campaign.
