Our Pilot with Driscoll's
Mulch films are important to growing great crops. It helps with moisture retention, preventing weed growth, and soil loss. However, at the end of each crop cycle, acres of films are to be disposed and recycled. Unfortunately, every farmer cannot readily access a recycling facility and thus dispose of film is a huge challenge. We thought this was a great opportunity to showcase the use of biomaterial and also evaluating degradation products and purposefully engineering them so that at end of life, the products are safe and nutritious to the soil and organisms.
